Current Volunteer Opportunities

Do you want to make a difference in the community? Are you looking for a volunteer position?
The achievements of Hospice Kingston are made possible by the volunteers who share their time and talents with the organization. Volunteers make a difference every day to the community we serve and the future we are building together, and many volunteers report that their volunteer role is a meaningful part of their own lives.
In-home Hospice: volunteers provide compassionate care and support to clients, and provide respite support for their caregivers and families. Volunteers spend a few hours a week with a client, providing companionship and comfort.
The next training session for In-Home Hospice volunteers is June 27-29, 2017.
Grief and Bereavement Support: volunteers comfort and support family, caregivers and friends through the challenge and stress of anticipating or experiencing the death of someone close to them. Grief and Bereavement Support volunteers offer one-on-one support to clients and families in a caring, compassionate and confidential environment. They also facilitate a 7-week bereavement support group program twice a year.
Special Events: volunteers assist with the planning, coordination and day-of activities of annual events. Volunteers are needed for the following events:
  • August 18: Golf Classic, In Memory of Larry Gibson;
  • September 23: Hospicefest (formerly Hospice Chilifest);
  • November 2017: First Annual Homes for Hospice.
Gardening: volunteers help maintain the gardens at The Walk at City Park from May to October. Tasks include light gardening like weeding, watering and planting, and removal of debris.
Speaker’s Bureau: volunteers represent Hospice Kingston at community events to share information about the organization, its services, hospice palliative care, and building a residential hospice in our community.
